Disney Parks Announcements from Destination D23 2023
Destination D23 is taking place this weekend at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, gave many updates on Disney parks and experiences worldwide.
Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line’s new island destination will be called Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Disney Cruise Line’s seventh ship will be called the Disney Adventure. The Disney Adventure was a ship known as the Global Dream and was acquired in 2022. The ship is expected to enter service in 2025 and be based in Singapore. Details on the sixth ship, the Disney Treasure, were previously announced.
Walt Disney World
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Walt Disney Imagineering is considering a “tropical Americas” retheme to Dinoland U.S.A., featuring attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.
The Tree of Life theater will receive a new show based on Zootopia, where guests explore different biomes.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Ahsoka will become part of Star Tours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. Disney had previously announced in April 2023 that new stories were coming to the attraction.
EPCOT
Asha from the new Disney animated film Wish will soon be coming to EPCOT, Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Paris.
EPCOT’s new nighttime spectacular, Luminous The Symphony of Us, will debut on December 5, 2023.
Guests can meet Figment in the Imagination Pavilion starting Sunday, September 10, 2023. The Figment meet and greet was first announced at D23 Expo 2022 as a late 2023 addition.
World Celebration will open in December 2023. It’s the last of the three new neighborhoods to open as part of EPCOT’s transformation. The land will feature the Walt Disney statue “The Dreamer” and the new festival center, CommuniCore Hall.
Test Track will be reimagined and inspired by the original EPCOT attraction, World of Motion. Chevrolet will continue its sponsorship of the popular attraction.
Journey of Water, inspired by Moana, will open on October 16, 2023. A Moana meet and greet will have a dedicated space near the walkthrough attraction.
Starting September 22, 2023, Soarin’ Over California is returning for a limited time.
Magic Kingdom
The Country Bear Musical Jamboree will debut in 2024. The bears will perform classic Disney songs in different country music genres, including rockabilly, bluegrass, and pop-country.
The Hatbox Ghost will materialize at the Haunted Mansion in late November 2023. Magic Kingdom’s Hatbox was first announced at D23 Expo 2022 as a 2023 addition.
A new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is coming to Adventureland. The former Barker Bird (Peg-Leg Pete) from the attraction’s entryway will be in the lounge.
Other Disney Parks
Disneyland Paris
Guests will soon be able to meet Asha from the Disney animated film Wish.
Ahsoka will be added to Star Tours at Disneyland Paris.
The Frozen-themed land is taking shape at Walt Disney Studios Park.
Disneyland Resort

Concept art was shown for the ride vehicle of the Avengers multiverse-themed attraction coming to Disney California Adventure. The Avengers E-Ticket attraction was initially announced at D23 Expo 2019, and the new multiverse theme was announced at D23 Expo 2022.
Hong Kong Disneyland
Announced earlier this week, The World of Frozen will open on November 20, 2023.
Shanghai Disney Resort
A new look was shared for the Zootopia-themed land, set to open in late 2023.
Tokyo Disney Resort
New concept art for Fantasy Springs was shown. The new land is taking shape at Tokyo DisneySea. Many details about the land were announced in August 2023.
