Mary Poppins Attraction, New Cruise Ship and Port, and More Announcements from D23 2019

We now have heard all of the major theme park news from Disney! There weren’t many new attractions announced at the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products panel at D23 2019, but we have a lot of new, exciting details!

Here’s our roundup:

  1. Magic Happens is a new parade at Disneyland coming spring 2020.

  2. Hong Kong Disneyland’s reimagined castle has a name: Castle of Magical Dreams. The castle will feature a daytime show, a nighttime spectacular, and a new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

  3. Hong Kong Disneyland’s Frozen land will feature two attractions: a coaster called Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs and Frozen Ever After (as seen in Epcot). See all the Hong Kong Disneyland news from D23.

  4. The new Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs will start previews on March 20, 2020, with a public opening on April 17, 2020.

  5. Phase One of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure will open in 2020 with the previously announced Spiderman attraction, and the Pym Test Kitchen, which is an Ant-Man and the Wasp restaurant. In Phase Two, there will be a new E-Ticket attraction with a brand new ride vehicle! Guests will fly alongside the Avengers in Wakanda. Read more on the Disney Parks Blog.

  6. In Epcot, Future World will be split into three lands: World Nature, World Discovery, and World Celebration. In World Celebration, there will be a new pavilion that will serve as the home for festivals and Spaceship Earth will get a new narration with a storytelling theme. When you exit Spaceship Earth, you’ll be in an area called Dreamers Point, that will feature a new statue of Walt Disney. In World Discovery, the name for the Guardians coaster will be Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which has a reverse launch. The space restaurant will be called Space 220, because the restaurant will simulate what it’d be like to dine 220 miles above Earth.

  7. World Showcase will get several updates: Mary Poppins will get an attraction in the UK, presumedly a dark ride. The France pavilion will get a Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along in January 2020, and the trackless Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is on track for summer 2020. A new restaurant called La Crêperie de Paris will also open in summer 2020. Over in the Canadian pavilion, the new film Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 will premier in January 2020. The new China film will be called Wondrous China and premier at a date to-be-announced.

  8. HarmonioUS is the name of Epcot’s new nighttime spectacular. The show will be the permanent replacement for IllumiNations, and will take over from Epcot Forever presumedly sometime in late 2020 or early 2021.

  9. Disney Genie will be a new app/service to help guests plan their Walt Disney World visit.

  10. The Star Wars Hotel, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a two-night experience where you interact with characters.

  11. Disney Cruise Line is working on a new Port of Call in the Bahamas. Lighthouse Point will be a new themed area on the island of Eleuthera. Imagineer Joe Rohde is working on the project.

  12. Finally, Disney Wish will set sail in January 2022. It is the fifth ship of the Disney Cruise Line. See more details of Lighthouse Point and the new ship.
