SeaWorld Announces Penguin Trek Coaster and More for 2024
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment has announced 2024 updates for every SeaWorld park in the US. Headlining the updates are the “Penguin Trek” coaster at SeaWorld Orlando and a jellyfish experience at SeaWorld San Diego.
Penguin Trek at SeaWorld Orlando
When it opens in spring 2024, Penguin Trek will be the eighth coaster at SeaWorld Orlando. The snowmobile-styled ride will take riders on “an exhilarating journey through the breathtaking vastness of Antarctica as they join a penguin research mission unlike any other.” At the end of the ride, riders will find themselves at SeaWorld Orlando’s penguin habitat.
Here are the ride facts:
Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard
Two launches
43 mph max speed
3020 feet of track
Minimum rider height: 42”
Maximum rider height: 77”
Penguin Trek is replacing Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin attraction, which opened on May 24, 2013, and has been closed since March 16, 2020. The former attraction featured a motion-based trackless dark ride that brought guests to SeaWorld’s penguinarium.
Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience at SeaWorld San Diego
An immersive and interactive jellyfish experience is coming to SeaWorld San Diego’s Ocean’s Explorer area in 2024. The exhibit will feature three galleries with moon jellyfish, Pacific Sea nettles, upside-down jellyfish, and comb jellies. The galleries will include an 18-foot-tall cylinder and a 10-foot-tall acrylic living arch that guests can walk underneath. A behind-the-scenes tour will be available as an upgrade for guests who want to learn more about jellyfish.
Catapult Falls at SeaWorld San Antonio
First announced as a 2023 addition for SeaWorld San Antonio, the Catapult Falls water coaster will open in 2024. The ride is advertised as the world’s first launched flume coaster and the only vertical lift in North America. Read more about Catapult Falls in our post from 2022.
