Six Flags Announces New Rides and Updates for 2024

Six Flags parks across the company have announced their 2024 park updates. Most updates hit social media channels in the morning on Wednesday, August 30th.

Let’s run through all of the announcements made by each park!

Six Flags America

SteamTown will be a new land at Six Flags America, replacing Coyote Creek. In addition to the new storyline for the area, the park will enhance existing attractions and make new additions.

SteamWhirler will be a new Zamperla Nebulaz, which features four rotating arms “synchronized by a central gearing system.”

Two existing rides will be updated and renamed. Mind Eraser, the park’s Vekoma suspended looping coaster, will be renamed and updated with new trains and a new operating system. The Renegade Rapids ride will receive new theming, as well as new “features and surprises.”

The new land will also feature a new quick-service restaurant, a themed gift shop, and the return of the park’s popular stunt show.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Three new attractions are coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas: a monorail called METROPOLIS Transit Authority, a Zamperla Nebulaz called CYBORG Cyber Revolution, and a drop tower called SHAZAM! Tower of Eternity. Read more about the park’s announcements from their 2023 FT92 fan event.

Six Flags Great Adventure

Great Adventure will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2024 with two exciting additions.

The Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa will be a new glamping experience that borders an open savanna where giraffes will freely roam. Guests will stay in luxurious tents and can dine at the resort’s restaurant or visit the “state-of-the-art spa.”

THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity conceptual rendering (Credit: Six Flags Great Adventure)

THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity is a Vekoma Super Boomerang coaster that will be located in the park’s Movietown area. The new coaster will reach a top speed of 59 mph. It has a minimum rider height requirement of 48”.

Six Flags Great America

Sky Striker is a Zamperla Giga Discovery pendulum ride. According to the park, “Sky Striker will send you into the clouds as you swing back and forth on its massive pendulum, creating the ultimate stomach-drop feeling as you touch the sky.” The ride reaches a top speed of 72 mph with an elevation of 172 feet. Six Flags Great Escape

The Bobcat will be Great Escape’s first new coaster in about 20 years. This 1412 ft long Gravity Group wooden coaster will reach speeds up to 40mph. The coaster will be 55 feet tall with a minimum rider height requirement of 42" with a person of responsibility and 48" to ride alone.

Six Flags Great Escape previously announced they’re retiring their Alpine Bobsled coaster on September 4, 2023.

Six Flags Over Georgia

A “first-of-its-kind” to-be-named Intamin Ultra Surf Coaster is coming to Six Flags Over Georgia. The Atlanta-area park made its announcements in mid-August at Coaster Fest 2023. Read more about the park’s updates.

Six Flags Over Texas

In 2024, “the world's oldest log flume will become one of the world's longest.”

El Aserradero, will be extended and renamed to El Rio Lento. The Arrow Development log flume ride opened at the park in 1963. The updated log flume will feature a new lift hill and two big drops, including the famous “giant, steep nosedive.”

Six Flags St. Louis

Like Six Flags Great America, St. Louis will also add a Zamperla Giga Discovery called The Joker: Carnival of Chaos. Interestingly, the park’s website has The Joker reaching a max speed of 75mph with a 172-foot height.

Riders will walk through The Joker’s funhouse before boarding the ride.

The park previously announced the Rookie Racer family coaster for summer 2023, which is still planned to open later this year.
