Top Thrill 2 - New at Cedar Point in 2024

Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is known for record-breaking roller coasters. In 2024, guests of America’s Roller Coast will have a brand new option for thrills: Top Thrill 2!

Utilizing the “bones” of 2003’s Top Thrill Dragster, Top Thrill 2 will provide an entirely new ride experience from it’s predecessor. Guests will accelerate to 70 mph using an LSM magnetic launch towards the original top-hat element. Falling backwards, the 20-person train will boost to 101 mph and climb a brand-new 420-foot, 90-degree vertical spike sure to dominate the Cedar Point skyline. Guests will freefall back to earth and grab one more launch boost to a top speed of 120 mph, completing the original Top Thrill Dragster layout of a 420-foot top hat tower and 270-degree spiral descending to the finish line.

Zamperla has been tasked with the renovation of Top Thrill Dragster, marking the largest single project for the company. Most recently, Zamperla partnered with Cedar Point for their 2023 addition, Wild Mouse. The company will provide three of their new 20-person Lightning trains which are reported to be very light and open, providing maximum thrills for riders. Slight cosmetic changes like new support column colors and a covered queue line will be noticeable, but more drastic changes have been kept at bay, much to the surprise of the roller-coaster enthusiast community.

Top Thrill 2 is scheduled to open with Cedar Point in early May, 2024. Park Rovers is looking forward to “Get to the Point” in 2024 to experience a “New Revvvolution of Thrills” on Top Thrill 2!
