Inverted Family Coaster Opening at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2025
Busch Gardens Williamsburg has announced a new family coaster opening in 2025. The coaster is touted as “North America’s longest inverted family coaster.” The coaster will be 2583 feet long and reach a maximum speed of 40 mph. The minimum rider height will be 42” and 48” to ride alone.
The ride’s storyline pays homage to the Big Bad Wolf coaster that operated from 1984 to 1989.
Long ago, a Bavarian village was terrorized like never before. A wolf swept through the town, turning townsfolk to werewolves and destroying the village. The creature soon vanished and this attack became known as Nacht des Wolfes, or the Night of the Wolf. A new village was constructed, and a system of bells were installed to prevent further tragedy.
40 years later, the village is preparing for the annual Festival of the Silent Bells, honoring the past and celebrating those that remain. Young villagers eager to celebrate sneak into the store house on the festival eve. The area is quiet at first, but strange noises are soon heard… footsteps and growling, then bright red eyes appear. The wolf has returned.
An exhilarating adventure across the German countryside awaits guests in 2025. Riders will experience over 2,500 feet of track while bolting through the streets of a Bavarian village, as the sound of screams and the echo of a howling wolf creates chaos in the familiar town. Traveling up to 40 miles per hour, riders become the beast on Busch Gardens’ all-new family-friendly inverted roller coaster.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg is giving guests an opportunity to vote on the name of the coaster between three different options:
GeisterWölf
(Meaning "Ghost Wolf")WölfSturm
(Meaning "Wolf Storm")WölfsReign
You can vote for your favorite name through September 25, 2024.
