Lakemont Park's Rides Won't Operate in 2024 – Including Leap-The-Dips

Lakemont Park (Altoona, Pennsylvania) has announced it will not operate their amusement rides in the 2024 season. Unfortunately, this includes the oldest standing roller coaster in the world, Leap-The-Dips.

According to a press release and a post on their Facebook account, the park will continue to operate its four batting cages, four basketball courts, two volleyball courts, two mini-golf courses, and ten pavilions. The amusement rides won’t operate due to declining attendance, increased maintenance costs, and other financial challenges.

Andrea Cohen, president of Lakemont Park, said, “This was a difficult decision to make. We hope our community will find new ways to enjoy our beautiful grounds as we update the Lakemont Park experience.”

Lakemont Park is a popular roller coaster enthusiast destination 14 miles south of DelGrosso’s Park (Tipton, Pennsylvania).

Visit Lakemont Park’s website for additional information as it is available.
