HERSHEY’S Great Candy Expedition Opening May 19, 2023
A new cinematic experience is opening soon at Hershey’s Chocolate World as part of its 50th-anniversary celebration. HERSHEY’S Great Candy Expedition is “the first fully immersive, interactive experience of its kind in North America.” The new attraction will open on May 19, 2023.
The 30-minute guest experience will start at Hershey's Chocolate World Train Station. Soon after, it’ll be time to head into Sweets Expedition Co. Platform 73 before being seated on the Hersheyland Express - which is the theater. The theater features 270-degree 4K projection mapping and best-in-class special effects.
The special effects include scents paired with different worlds, visual lighting, and theatrical snow, creating a sense of cascading confetti. Lght-up buttons on the armrests will allow guests to vote on train destinations. The theater’s seats will feature rumble vibration and wind timed to special moments.
The theater previously featured the 4D Chocolate Movie, which was retired on September 5, 2022.
