Adventureland Iowa adding two new attractions for 2023 season

Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa, has been impressively adding attractions over the last decade. The previously independent park, recently acquired by Parques Reunidos, opened multiple roller coasters and attractions in the past ten years. Adventureland will make their park twice as nice in 2023 with the addition of a “land and sea” ride package from Italian ride manufacturer Zamperla.

Flying Viking roller coaster and Draken Falls log flume

Flying Viking is Adventureland’s newest roller coaster and will soar over the new Draken Falls log flume. Flying Viking is a family coaster reaching top speeds of 26 mph and will traverse over 1200 feet of track in a customized Viking chariot. Riders on Draken Falls will board small Viking log boats to conquer two thrilling drops while taking in views of the highly themed environment and Flying Viking.

Luna Park at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NYC recently installed a similar roller coaster and log flume combo.

Iowa is quickly becoming a hotbed of amusement park expansion with Adventureland rapidly expanding and Lost Island Theme Park opening this year. We can only hope both parks continue to push each other to more spectacular additions in the coming years.
