Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast Opening Summer 2023 at Universal Orlando

A new Minions attraction is officially coming to Universal Studios Florida in the summer of 2023! Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast will open at Universal Studios Florida, replacing the former Shrek 4-D attraction.

The attraction will combine multiple elements: a moving walkway, screen technology, physical set pieces, and gaming interactivity. The attraction’s backstory has park guests at a villain convention competing to join a group of supervillains.

The world-class attraction transports guests to Villain-Con – the biggest criminal convention on the planet – to take part in an epic competition to see if they have what it takes to become the newest member of The Vicious 6, a notorious group of supervillains from the hit film, “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

Theme Park Stop has a video detailing everything they know about the new attraction.

The new Villian-Con attraction will be part of a new Minion-themed land on Illumination Ave. The new land will also feature a Minion Café and the existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction.

Shrek 4-D closed at Universal Studios Florida on January 10, 2022. The attraction is still operating at Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore.
