Walt Disney World Railroad Reopens at Magic Kingdom
All aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad! The iconic attraction is now open after an extended closure of 4 years and 20 days. Back on December 3, 2018, the Walt Disney World Railroad closed for what was expected to be less than two years due to the construction of the TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster in Tomorrowland.
The TRON attraction was first announced by then Chairman Bob Chapek at D23 Expo 2017 and was initially planned to open for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. TRON Lightcycle / Run is now planned to open in Spring 2023 (announced at D23 Expo 2022) as part of the Disney Company’s 100th “100 years of Wonder” celebration.
The Disney Parks Blog shared a Cast Member story and photos with John, who oversees the Walt Disney World Railroad’s operation.
Here’s a high-quality 4K video of the full grand circle tour from Attractions Magazine, which includes the new section of the railroad with TRON Lightcycle / Run.
