Walt Disney World and SeaWorld Announce Reopening Plans
The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force Meeting had more viewers than usual today because SeaWorld and Walt Disney World announced their plans for reopening. If you’d like to watch the presentations yourself, SeaWorld’s starts at 45:50, and Walt Disney World’s presentation starts at 58:29.
SeaWorld submitted plans to reopen its three parks: SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove, on June 11th. Those plans were quickly endorsed by the Orange County Mayor, and are expected to be approved by Governor Ron DeSantis.
Walt Disney World submitted plans to reopen Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 11th, followed by Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th. Those plans were also endorsed by the Orange County Mayor and sent to the Governor’s office.
Disney also shared more details on the Disney Parks Blog, and here are some highlights from all of the announcements:
Masks will be required for guests and cast members
No parades, fireworks, traditional character meet and greets
Theme park reservations will be required
Hotel and ticket sales are currently suspended
Existing ticket holders and annual passholders will be able to make theme park reservations before new tickets are sold
Disney Vacation Club (DVC) properties and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will reopen on June 22nd
Disney’s Hilton Head Island and Vero Beach Resorts will open on June 15th
