The London Resort Planned to Open in 2024 with Six Lands
Update (July 20, 2023): The application for The London Resort was withdrawn in March 2022 with the intent to resubmit a scaled-down version of the project. It doesn’t seem likely that the resort will be built.
The London Resort is a planned 535-acre “sustainable” theme park 17 miles east of Central London. The initial announcement for the project was on October 8, 2012, with anticipated completion in 2019. The plans have since been reviewed and revised, with a new anticipated completion in 2024.
In 2019, The London Resort has announced many new and updated partnerships. EDF Energy has signed on to make the project sustainable. The BBC, ITV Studios, and Paramount Pictures are signed on as creative partners.
On December 5, 2019, new concept artwork was revealed that shows six lands. The lands appear to follow the Disneyland model, with “High Street” serving as The London Resorts’ equivalent of Main Street USA.
The resort is planned to have hotels, a convention center, shops, a water park, and a second gate that will open in 2029. It will be the most significant theme park development since Disneyland Paris in 1992.
