Guide to Canada’s Wonderland
Canada’s Wonderland opened on May 23, 1981, as the country’s first theme park. At 330 acres, it is also Canada’s largest theme park.
Splash Works is Canada’s Wonderland water park and is included in the price of admission.
Travel Tips
The park is 20 minutes by car north of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
Buffalo, NY, is about two hours from Canada’s Wonderland.
Must-Do Attractions
Behemoth is a Bolliger & Mabillard hypercoaster that opened in 2008. It’s similar to Diamondback (Kings Island), Intimidator (Carowinds), Goliath (La Ronde), and Nitro (Six Flags Great Adventure).
Dragon Fyre is an Arrow Dynamics steel looping coaster. It was an opening day attraction at Canada’s Wonderland.
Leviathan was the first giga coaster (drop over 300 feet) built by Bolliger & Mabillard and is the tallest and fastest coaster in Canada.
Starlight Spectacular is a sound-and-light show created for the park’s 30th anniversary in 2011. You can typically catch the show at 10:00 PM every night on International Street.
Thunder Run is a Mack Rides powered steel coaster themed after a runaway mine train. The opening day attraction takes riders through Wonder Mountain, an artificial mountain and Canada Wonderland’s trademark.
Wilde Beast is a wooden roller coaster modeled after Coney Island’s Wildcat. It was an opening day attraction at the park.
Wonder Mountain's Guardian is a 4D interactive dark ride coaster built by ART Engineering from Germany. The attraction cost $10 million and opened in 2014.
Yukon Striker is a Bolliger & Mabillard dive coaster that opened on May 3, 2019. It’s the world's tallest, longest, and fastest dive coaster, alongside Valravn from Cedar Point.
