Scorpion Closing at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Update (August 30, 2024): Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has moved Scorpion’s closure to September 8, 2024.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has announced that the last day to ride its Scorpion roller coaster will be Monday, September 2, 2024 Sunday, September 8, 2024. The park has stated that “this closure paves the way for future thrills,” which indicates that a new thrill ride will go in its place.

Scorpion is currently the oldest roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The steel coaster opened on May 16, 1980, and is a Schwarzkopf “Silver Arrow” model – one of three ever built. With its closure, Kumba will be the oldest coaster in the park.
