Hershey's Chocolate World Kicks Off Its 50th Anniversary Celebration

Fifty years ago, Hershey’s Chocolate World opened in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Reminiscent of a world’s fair pavilion, the free-admission attraction replaced the former Hershey chocolate plant tour with a state-of-the-art dark ride (Hershey’s Chocolate Factory Tour) along with a large retail floor. Chocolate-themed attractions and experiences have been added throughout the years, and 2023 marks the golden anniversary of this unique experience.

Fiftieth Anniversary events will occur throughout 2023, starting with last weekend’s chocolate sculpture unveiling. Created by Jim Victor and Marie Pelton, the custom sculpture is a playful recreation of Hershey’s Chocolate World and will be on display throughout the summer.

This summer, a new, unannounced attraction will replace the former 4D theater. Also, a birthday celebration is scheduled for the attraction on June 30th, including exclusive food and beverage options and character meet-and-greets with special collectibles.

Future events at Hershey’s Chocolate World include a Milton Hershey’s Birthday celebration on September 11, 2023, and a special Holiday Chocolate House to wrap up the 50th Anniversary.
