Libertyland USA Theme Park Proposed for Mount Rushmore Area
Experience design firm Storyland Studios has announced the development of a new family entertainment and residential destination. Libertyland USA Theme Park & Resort will be in Black Hills, South Dakota. The project is intended to be completed in 2026.
Ben Thompson, partner and chief strategy officer at Storyland Studios, compared the project to residential projects by Disney and Universal:
LIBERTYLAND USA is set to become a major regional entertainment and residential destination in the heart of the Black Hills and should be considered as a similar type of development to “Storyliving by Disney” and Universal’s “Housing of Tomorrow”. The main difference between those projects and LIBERTYLAND is the presence of a world-class regional theme park within the same development.
Here’s what’s planned for the project:
Theme park with an “interactive living history attraction”
Lifestyle center with retail, dining, and entertainment
Special events center with an arena dinner show, chuckwagon dinner offering, and outdoor amphitheater
Western-themed resort hotel with 300 rooms, conference center, and indoor waterpark
RV resort and campground with 200 RV slips, campground, outdoor activities, general store, restaurant, and recreation center
Residential district with single and multi-family residences
