Bürgermeister's Hideaway Spoiler-Free Review (Busch Gardens Williamsburg)

Bürgermeister's Hideaway is a speakeasy experience at Busch Gardens Williamsburg that debuted in late July 2022. It’s currently available as an add-on for $50 per guest (not including a 10% pass member discount).

If you want the sweet details, you can watch our Park Rovers Live show from August 21, 2022, but here’s our spoiler-free version with answers to the big questions:

Where is Bürgermeister's Hideaway?

The secret is out! The speakeasy is located in the Rhinefeld, Germany hamlet at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Look for the light-blue building that says Süßigkeiten (German for sweets) above the door. Inside the doors, the walls are decorated with various candies, and the back wall says “Prost to a Sweet Surprise.” The location was previously a candy shop called Das Gingerbread Haus.

What are the drinks?

When you book your reservations, you’ll have to choose between the four different flights:

  • Cocktail or mocktail: Strawberry Mint Spiked Lemonade, Jalapeño Watermelon Margarita, Banana Nutella Martini

  • Beer: Radler St. Pauli Girl Lager with Lemon, Hofbräu Münchner Weisse, Spaten Optimator

  • Wine: Pratsch Rosé, Dr Pauly Noble House Dornfelder Sweet Red, Fitz-Ritter Durkheimer Hochbenn Riesling Sekt

In general, the flights follow a similar pattern of an easy, refreshing drink, then the headliner drink, and then a dessert-like drink to finish.

We recommend the cocktail or mocktail flight if it's your first time.

Is it worth it?

If you’ve made it this far, the answer is probably yes.

Bürgermeister's Hideaway is a dream come true for fans of Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Without giving away any of the details, the bar pays tribute to the original Bürgermeister, Robert Bauman. If you’re unfamiliar with Bauman, check out his bio on Attraction Chasers.

$50 is, of course, a lot of money for three drinks. But essentially, half of your money is going toward the overall experience.

What’s it like?

It’s hard to answer what it’s like without giving away any of the details.

The best comparison bars or lounges may be Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World) and Trader Sam’s (at the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World). However, Bürgermeister's Hideaway is smaller than Oga’s and Trader Sam’s, which should result in a consistently great guest experience.

Compared to Oga’s and Trader Sam’s, Bürgermeister's Hideaway also offers more interactive entertainment while you enjoy your drinks. Like Trader Sam’s, there’s also a lot to look at on the walls!

Overall

Bürgermeister's Hideaway is a very welcome addition to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and a must-do if you’re visiting the park! There’s a huge potential for the park to vary the experience based on the event (e.g., Christmas Town or Mardi Gras), which would make it even better.

Since the menu hasn’t changed yet since debuting in July, it’s not a very repeatable experience; most people will be satisfied by visiting once or twice.
