Cedar Fair 2020 Updates
Every Cedar Fair park released an update today on their social media channels detailing their plans for the upcoming season. While parks did not provide specifics regarding opening dates, some previously scheduled 2020 projects have been delayed until 2021. A summary of 2020 projects:
Projects still opening in 2020
Canada’s Wonderland’s new attractions, Mountain Bay Cliffs and Beagle Brigade Airfield, should be completed when the park opens.
Carowinds’ Monster Jam Thunder Alley will open with the park. Boogie Board Racer construction is continuing and the water slide complex should be complete soon.
Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom will remodel their Center Stage and finish construction of their new Seaside Splashworks multi-level waterpark attraction.
Kings Dominion’s Soak City updates (Coconut Shores play structure, mini wave pool, and new food truck area) are on track for park open.
Orion, the 7th Giga Coaster in the world, will open with Kings Island.
At Knott’s Berry Farm, guests can currently order food and other items from Knott’s Chicken-to-Go Restaurant, Farm Bakery, and Knott’s Berry Market for pickup or delivery nationwide. Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair, a re-imagining of the park’s Voyage to the Iron Reef, is on track to open.
Michigan’s Adventure provided no direct information on their new Camp Snoopy expansion. Further digging on their website shows the project is still scheduled to open in 2020.
Valleyfair is adding a new event space, Coca-Cola Refresh station, and new Corn Cart building when the park opens.
Worlds of Fun & Oceans of Fun will debut Riptide Raceway, the world’s longest mat racing waterslide.
Newly-acquired Schiltterbahn Waterparks in Galveston and New Braunfels, Texas, will receive minor updates throughout the parks.
Projects delayed until 2021
California’s Great America will postpone their Red, White, and Brews festival.
Carowinds will postpone their Grand Carnivale and Carolina Summer Nights festivals.
Cedar Point is postponing all of their 150th Anniversary Celebration festivities, including their Snake River Expedition ride, Town Hall Museum renovations, and Celebrate 150 Spectacular nighttime show and parade. The park is also postponing events like CoasterMania!, Coaster Campout, Frontier Festival, and Season Passholder Appreciation Weekend. Cedar Point as also announced VIP, Sunrise, Segway, and Boardwalk Cruiser Tours will not debut or return until 2021.

Kings Dominion festivals including Memorial Weekend Salute and Grand Carnivale have been postponed.
Kings Island will postpone their nighttime festivals Grand Carnivale and Summer Nights.
Like Cedar Point, Knott’s Berry Farm is postponing all events related to the Knott’s 100th Anniversary. Knott’s will also not run Ghost Town Alive! this year.
Valleyfair’s Peanuts Celebration, honoring the Peanuts cartoons from MN native Charles Schulz, will not take place until 2021. The park’s Grand Carnivale festival will also be postponed.
Worlds of Fun will postpone their Summer Nights and Grand Carnivale festivals.
Schlitterbahn Waterparks will postpone their American Heroes Week festivals.
Projects cancelled
California’s Great America’s Monster Jam Thunder Alley attraction will not arrive this year. The park did not indicate it would arrive at the park in the future.

Cedar Fair has already announced season passes and all add-ons, such as dining, locker, and photo key purchases, will be extended through the 2021 season. Depending on when the parks open, this could be a real steal-of-a-deal for folks who want to maximize their park experiences.
