Cedar Fair's 2020 Announcements - Giga Coaster at Kings Island and more!
Cedar Fair made waves (pun intended) this past week with a series of announcements for many of their parks. Kings Island, located outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, will get the most significant new attraction.
Kings Island
New coaster
Orion will be a giga coaster featuring a 300-foot drop with speeds up to 91mph. Read more or watch the announcement video:

California's Great America
Water park renovation
Boomerang Bay will become South Bay Shores with Northern California theming. There will be four new drop slides, two new tube slides, and a new lagoon area.
Canada's Wonderland
Cliff jumping water park attraction and new kid's ride
Mountain Bay Cliffs will be a new water park attraction where guests will jump from seven-and-a-half meters (25 feet) into the water below. Beagle Brigade Airfield will be a new kid's ride in Planet Snoopy.
Carowinds
Water mat racing and Grand Carnivale
Boogie Board Racer will be "the longest mat racing slide in the Southeast." It sounds the same as Riptide Raceway. Grand Carnivale, the nighttime international festival, will be June 13-July 5, 2020. Note: We noticed there's no mention of special food or drinks at the Carowinds version.
Cedar Point
New $99 Gold Pass
The Gold Pass includes free parking, discounts, bring-a-friend admission discounts, and exclusive ride times. It's available for purchase now.
Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom
New play structure in the water park
Seaside Splashworks will be a beach-themed multi-level play structure. It sounds like a slightly smaller version of Lighthouse Landing at Kings Dominion.
Kings Dominion
Water park updates
The Coconut Shores area of Soak City will be updated. Lighthouse Landing will be a family-friendly multi-level play structure with more than 200 interactive features, two tipping buckets, and eight water slides. Sand Dune Lagoon will be a mini-wave pool. Kings Dominion will also add a new restaurant and bar to the area.
Knott's Berry Farm
Summer-long event
A Knott's Family Reunion will be a summer-long event celebrating 100 years of the Knott's family. Knott's may get Grand Carnivale in 2021.
Michigan's Adventure
Camp Snoopy
The kid's area, presumedly at the entrance to the park, will be updated as Camp Snoopy with five attractions: Woodstock Express, Beagle Scout Lookout, Mud Buggies, Camp Bus, and Trail Blazers.
Valleyfair
Grand Carnivale
The festival will be July 25 - August 16, 2020. It sounds like Valleyfair will get the full version of the festival, complete with featured food and drinks.
Worlds of Fun
Water mat racing attraction at Oceans of Fun
Riptide Raceway will be "the longest mat racing water slide in the Midwest" at more than 476 feet.
